It is hard to believe that it is already January 2009. This time last year Cam and I were preparing or our big adventure to Australia. Today I am cleaning my home. Funny how things change. I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy New Year!!
So much has gone on in our lives in 2008, big things. Moving to the Okanagan was a huge decision we made together. We are very happy with our decision and things have worked out for us, so far. I am looking forward to 2009! My twin sister is getting married this year to a really awesome guy who loves and adores her. So, naturally I am the Matron of Honour for that wedding. I will be busy busy this year devoting my time to my sisters beck and call, as she did for me when I was getting married. Oh, I am also a bridesmaid in Meghann's, (my friend from Edmonton) wedding. I am very excited for her wedding as well. It is the weekend after Danielle's. So Cam and I will be busy travelling to Nelson then up to Edmonton. I am very honoured that I can be part of both their weddings. Then in October Cam and I will be jetting off to Maui for Mike and Ellen's wedding. We are both so excited to be able to join them in Maui to celebrate their union. It is going to be a vacation to remember. I am dedicating 2009 to a year of weddings :o)
So here's to 2009 and whatever it might bring!

What have we been up to???
I have started to post so many times over the past few months because so much has happened, but I haven't been able to complete a single one. Call it bloggers block if you will, but I want to get back to writing and sharing the happenings in my life. Mostly so I can receive feedback and realize that I am not alone in this crazy world, and that these strange happenings happen to others..... possibly. I am going to start this post from back in the fall. Where I left off from the last post....
I must admit I absolutely love the fall. I love the colors of the trees and anticipation of the first snow fall. I got to go to Edmonton in September to go wedding dress shopping with my sister. It was such a great weekend. Not only did I have a kick ass car for the weekend to drive around in, we found her dress!! I got to hang out with my bestest friends and had a good trip all around. Going back to Edmonton made me miss it a little bit. It is nice being able to go back and be independent in knowing my way around the city and where things are. I am sure that Danielle's fiance Ryan is appreciative of that as well. I don't know when I will return back to Edmonton though. I am content in beautiful BC anyhow.
Unfortunately Thanksgiving just wasn't the same this year. I got to go to Nelson to visit my friends and family, however, Cam was unable to make the trip with me. He injured himself at work and was unable to travel back home due to his injury. I didn't have to drive by myself; fortunately, my Uncle Derek from Kelowna wanted a ride back to Nelson to see the family and his son. I got to see my Grandpa, who recently has fallen ill, and he looks great. I would never have guessed that he just got out of the hospital. Every holiday from this point that we get to have Grandpa with us is wonderful and valued. You always think that they are some super being that will never leave you or pass. Unfortunately the bitter truth my friends is that this isn't so. So we have to value every minute that we get to spend with our loved ones because you just never know.
After Thanksgiving the month of October just seemed to get worse and worse for Cam and I. We were already dealing with WCB and getting Cam better and back to work. He started going to physio regularly. On his way home from one of his appointments he was in a four vehicle accident. He was rear ended. He was the second vehicle to get hit, however I still think that our vehicle (Charlie) took the brunt of the hit. As it turned out there was too much damage to Charlie for ICBC to fix him, so we took the buy out, and Charlie was a write off. It took me a very long time to get over the fact that my little car was gone. I was/am very devastated. I know most of you are thinking I am a nut. I just tend to become very attached to things, and I have had so many great memories with Charlie. We took multiple road trips together. Oh and Cam got a little whiplash from the accident. So not only are we dealing with WCB for his work injury, we are dealing with an ICBC claim for his neck. Cam is doing well, and he hasn't had any real discomfort, but we aren't closing the claim just yet because you never know. We did replace Charlie with another car. We got a 2002 Mazda5 Protege. It is very nice, with all the bells and whistles, even a sunroof. It has four doors, so I guess we have a 'family vehicle' so now we just need a family to put in it :o) We got it for a really good deal. Because we just purchased a new truck in the summer, we weren't quite ready to buy a brand new vehicle. Let alone replace Charlie anytime soon. This was very unexpected, but somehow we managed to find this vehicle and get it for a price that worked really well for us. So with the buy out for Charlie and a little money out of our own pocket we were able to make a really great upgrade to the Mazda and not owe any money on the vehicle. I must admit though as much as I miss Charlie, I love the new vehicle. I love driving it. It is a standard, which is a whole new world to me, as Charlie was an automatic. We are both very pleased with our new addition.
We were both so happy that October was over and in the past because it was very trying and hard financially, emotionally, and physically. November came and went. I don't recall anything spectacular or unfortunate happening. Everyone was healthy and happy. Cam started back at work, he started doing light duty and only working about 4 hours a day. We both decided to take an investment in our health and get gym passes and started going regularly. Both Cam and I have been feeling the positive effects of it. It is a bit of a commitment, especially me, but I think we can do it.
December started off with a bang for me. Our office went on a trip to Vegas for a conference. The conference itself was a little boring and long. The trip to Vegas was amazing. I had never been before so to see it and take it all in was amazing and wonderful. I love it there and would love to go back anytime. So, I guess now there is Christmas to look forward to. It is sneaking up on us quickly. I am excited to go home to Nelson for the holidays and spend time with my family. So happy holidays everyone!!! Hope everyone as a safe and fun Holiday!
I promise to try to get back to blogging more regularly. I enjoy it personally because it allows me to express my thoughts and feelings, and share what is going on in our little lives as well. We are currently without a computer at home, as ours is getting fixed right now. There was a little mishap with some wine. Apparently wine and Mac Book don't mix. Oh well. Shit happens and it is getting fixed, so all is well that ends well..... hopefully, we still don't have it back.

One year went fast!
Cam and I just celebrated our One Year Wedding Anniversary. Wow did it go by quick. So many changes in our lives from where we were a year ago. For this anniversary we decided to go to Victoria for the weekend and visit a very good friend of ours. We also had the pleasure of staying at the Empress while we were there. When we first arrived to Victoria we had to go and see the ocean, and we had to pick a few things up for supper as well. We got to bring Zoe along as well. She has never seen the ocean or been in the ocean. It was a whole new experience for her. The city of Victoria so very dog friendly which is great because we could take Zoe everywhere we went. It was fantastic. She even got to stay with us at the Empress. She got to come down to the Wharf with us to meet Sammy the Sea Lion. We even got to bring her along to Buchart Gardens with us. I was so proud of my pug puppy. She was the most well behaved dog I have ever encountered. She heeled right between Cam and I, and she didn't embarrass us by pooping where she wasn't suppose to ;o) She didn't really care for the ferry ride over to the island or back very much, but I can't blame her it is noisy.
It was a great weekend, but we are glad to be home and get to spend a weekend at home. Thanks again Brad and Erin for your great hospitality. And thanks to Victoria for being a 'dog friendly' city.

What a Summer So Far!!
At the beginning of May Cam and I had a pretty low key summer planned. One of my best friends was getting married to the love of her life. So of course we had that planned to do, but other than that (and the Mid Summer Bonspiel week for me) we kept most our weekends open. But it would seem that our Summer had something else planned for us. For me personally I have been busy with Bachelorette parties, Wedding Showers, and many other activities. Cam and I decided to buy a truck at the beginning of the summer. So we were busy going as far as Nelson to look at trucks. We ended up finding one in Kelowna. We found a Ford Ranger XLT Fx4, it is a very nice truck.
Of course it is black to match our Charlie Car. After two years we finally got to go camping with our friends. We found a great spot out at Coffee Creek, just past Balfour. However, Cam came down with a very nasty cold/flu. So we had to leave a day early from camping. It was still fun! We have been golfing a ridiculous amount. While I was away curling, Cam decided to go shopping for new golf clubs. So, we have been putting the new clubs to good use. It has been great. So we have been able to go to Granite Pointe Golf in Nelson, Balfour Golf course, Pinnacle, and many other courses around our area. I am so happy that I have learned how to golf. I don't golf well but I am learning.

I got to curl in the last ever Nelson Mid Summer Bonspiel. It was a great week! I got to curl with my Mom, Danielle, and Allie. I couldn't have asked for better people to curl with. It was a good week had by all, and an unforgettable one at that. I did however get to spend a few weekends in Coldstream before we headed back to Nelson for the 7th time this summer for my friends wedding. It was such a beautiful occasion. Michelle was absolutly stunning, and so happy :o) Brought back memories of Cam and I last year. Speaking of last year. This August 11th will be our 1st wedding anniversary. We get to go to Victoria. I am so excited about this because it has been so long since we have been to the island. We have friends that we will be staying with for a few days as well as we get to stay at the Emperess Hotel. After this weekend we don't have any other plans for this summer. I wonder what else August has in store for us. I am sure we will be busy.

Finally Australia!!
I never thought getting into a country would be so difficult. The flight was only 6 hours. It was a nicer plane than the one we flew to Singapore on. We finally arrived and we had to go through customs three times let alone having three different people check our customs passes. I found it to be a bit excessive, but I guess they have had some issues in the past. As we were waiting for our luggage mine came out rather quickly. Cam was starting to get a little nervous because his still wasn't coming on the belt. I think his bag was the very last bag off of the plane. But we did manage to get his bag and my bag. We went outside and waited for our bus to come and pick us up to take us to the hostel that we were staying at. We were going to be staying at a little hostel by the beach in Glenelg, which is only 15 minutes from Adelaide. Apparently the first heat of the Tour Down Under was going to be taking place there so there were workers busy getting the road ready for the bikers. So the bus that we were on was a little detoured, so we had to walk a little bit to our hostel. No biggie, I was in Australia nothing was getting me down, and on top of it all we got to see world class cyclists. Once we got all checked in we headed down to the beach to go for a stroll. We did a lot of wondering around and just taking the wonderful sights in. Glenelg is a very busy little hub with a lot going on. In the morning we were going into Adelaide to go and find the car rental location and tour around the city as well.

Day 2 in Australia.
We took the tram into Adelaide and wondered around Rundle Mall. Rundle Mall is a large outside market. There are many vendors and stores along the street. It goes for about 6-8 city blocks. It was nice walking around there first thing in the morning before it got really busy. Besides we wanted to spend the day on the beach. So we wondered over to find the car rental location so that we could find it easily the next morning. Once we finished up in town we headed back out to Glenelg on the tram. The beach was really windy that day and we had the aerosol sun screen so we thought we did a pretty good job putting on the sunscreen, until later that night when we were both pretty burned. Cam got it a little worse than me. Our Hostel was hosting a BBQ, so we opted to eat supper there, and save a few dollars. After we went for a walk to watch the tour down under bike race.
When we went back to the hostel we joined some people for some drinks. Oh I forgot to mention that our hostel had a bar in the basement of it. They were a lot of fun, we went out the a club with a group of them. Cam and I enjoyed exchanging terminology with some of the locals and learning new ways of saying things. Once we returned to our room we had to pack and get ready to head out early in the morning to our next destination.

Lost in Singapore
It was our final day in Singapore and we had planned the whole day. So we got up early to catch out bus to head down to Orchard Road, which is where all the shopping is. As we were waiting there was a cab driver who approached us and said that he would take us to a few places where they sell electronics and such for super cheap and then take us to Orchard Rd all for $4 Singapore dollars. So me being the person I am thought that it was a good deal and that we could try to find a iTouch for me, and a new camera case for our camera. Cam was a little unsure for obvious reason, but he went along with it. So our first stop was a discount jewelry store. We didn't buy anything there. He then took us to a market in Chinatown. We found a really nice camera case there. There were also other stores in this little market. There were really nice wallets and purses made from crocodiles, ostrich, and fish skins. Way too expensive....so where this guy is coming from saying cheap was bull. So once we found the camera case we wanted to get out of there and head to Orchard Rd. So we went outside to see if we could find our driver who said he would be right outside when he dropped us off, He wasn't! So we waited a little bit and walked around for a little bit to see if we could find him. Finally after a while we pulled out our map and found the street we were on and mapped out where the tourist bus stop was and headed for that to go to Orchard Rd. We were on our way headed in what we thought was the right way, when a local man noticed we had a map and tried to help us. He sent us the wrong way.... we WERE going the right way. We should have stuck with our instinct. But we figured he would know better than us. Nope! So finally we got back on track and we found our bus stop. However we waited there for almost an hour for the bus to come. We kinda felt bad ditching that little old cab driver, but we felt he ditched us. Oh well no money for him, and we got a kick ass camera case for super cheap! It was SO hot waiting for that bus! Good thing the bus had AC on it. We finally made it to Orchard Rd!!!!! We found the Hard Rock Cafe and had lunch.
After lunch we walked down Orchard Rd just to take it all in. It is a busy place with a lot of expensive shops. I am not a wealthy person, so I didn't even venture into any of the stores. We were pretty worn out after walking up and down the strip, so we decided to head back to the hotel to have a dip in the pool. So again we waited for the bus. We finally got back to our hotel and had a swim...ahhhh... so refreshing. Afterwards we we wondered over to Fort Canning Park, which was an old military base. It was so beautiful there. The King once lived there, we saw his house. There were these stone walls with these designs on them... amazing.

After our walk around the park we had a really nice supper at Clark Quay. Then we got some ice cream on the way back to our hotel. We were both bagged from our eventful day. Plus we were headed to Australia in the morning, finally!!!!!!!

Singapore
Well this post has taken me a while to get going with, as mentioned in my past post I'm Back I was going to share some of the adventures that Cam and I endured. So here is the first of many to come........
I loved it in Singapore. The weather was great! We checked into the hotel, after a VERY long flight. We had to check in with the Tour Desk as well to inform them of our departure time to Australia. At that time we also booked a trip to the Singapore Zoo. Cam and I both found the tour operator to be very pushy. She kept trying to push other things to do on us, when all we both really wanted to do at that time was have a shower and freshen up after our 15 hour flight. We both felt a little overwhelmed. So finally we told her that we would come back to book whatever we wanted to do another time, and we headed up to our room to have a shower and change.

Once we were fresh again we wanted to go and find a bank machine so that we could have some money to go for supper with. We had no problems finding the ATM machine. We headed back to the hotel after that because we found out that it was happy hour and at happy hour you get two for one drinks :o) We now had money so we took advantage of that. After we finished up our drinks we went for a stroll along the river. We then discovered the most fascinating area. Clark Quay (pronounced 'key'). There is restaurant after restaurant in this area. It was amazing. After walking back and forth trying to decide where to eat we finally decided on a place. We had the most amazing prawn supper there. I have never seen prawns so big. YUM!! We were in heaven. But we were fading fast.....hello jet lag! So we strolled back to our room and went to bed. We needed our rest, we were headed to the Zoo the next morning.
The next day started early for us. We had to catch our tour bus for the Zoo, and after many stops at other hotels we were finally on our way to the Zoo!! When we first arrived there we took a ride on one of the Zoo's tram's and we were quickly orientated on the Zoo and where things were. After our quick tram ride we got to enjoy breakfast with Orangutans! It was so cool. It isn't everyday that I get to eat with monkeys other than Cam. All the orangutans get to roam freely above the zoo in the trees... so watch out for an unexpected shower..hehe. Once we were done eating we got to roam around the zoo freely on our own. It was so great to see so many animals, and their habitats were very clean and well taken care of. After the Zoo we went back to our favorite spot down the River, Clark Quay. We had lunch at Brewerkz. After lunch we took a river boat tour and learned of the history of the river and Singapore. We got to see the original Merlion, which is their mascot. It was a very informative boat tour. Afterwards we headed back to our hotel for a swim and a drink at happy hour :o)

Well this is a good start to many post to come. I could have you here reading all day about our adventures.

Old Dog New Tricks
Since the sun has come out to play, we enjoy most of our time at home outdoors. No doubt it is due to Zoe's determination to get out the door and get the ball and start running. Is it wrong that we use her perseverance for chasing a ball and playing with a ball as a way to babysit her? I think we are fortunate that we have the ability to hang out with the dog, but if we need to run inside to grab something we can just go and not worry about Zoe wondering away. It is nice that Zoe has stopped wondering so much about the neighbours dogs. They will bark at her, and she won't pay them any attention. It is nice being able to exercise our dog in our back yard! It leaves one tired puppy at the end of the day. The picture really does speak for itself.
On another note we had such a great weekend of hanging out with Jenn! She came to visit for the weekend because Jenn's friend was coming up to see her brother and some friends so Jenn decided to catch a ride up and see us. Cam got to go out biking with his sister, and we all got to hang out and go for some good food. We went to a really good sushi cafe for supper in Kelowna. It was a busy weekend but a GREAT one as well.

Serenity
Well Cam and I have finally 'moved in'. This weekend we finished unpacking our things that we have here and hung our pictures on the walls, we even went as far as to buy a plant. We still have a bunch of stuff at my mom and dad's in Nelson that we couldn't fit on this move so we will get that stuff later on. I am just eagerly awaiting for my new dining set to arrive. It is suppose to be here in June, but I am hopeful that it will come early. Stranger things have happened. Both Cam and I are absolutely loving where we are living. We are about 10 minutes East of Vernon, in a sleepy little community called Coldstream. There are a lot of houses out here, but the majority of the land is farm land and cattle ranches. Although we are only renting our place for now, I would like to stay out in this area, but it might be a little expensive to do that. I had the pleasure of having my sister visiting here for the first week that we were moving in. She helped out soooo much with the unpacking and helping me organize and clean the place. It was a very busy week for us because she was also wanting to visit our friend in Kelowna, so I was doing a lot of driving that week back and forth. I didn't really mind the drive because it is relatively short. Which is nice for whenever Cam and I need to go into Kelowna to go to Costco or whatever, even though Vernon has a pretty good selection of stores that fits all our needs.
Zoe is loving her new home! She gets to go outside without a leash on. So she gets to wonder freely all over the yard. She is getting a lot better with her barking at the neighbour dogs. There are other dogs on each side of us. One side there are three huge golden labs, and on the other there is an American Eskimo dog and a black Sheppard. So, she is learning that they are there, and that they will bark at her, but she doesn't need to bark at them. She just needs to learn her boundaries now and not wonder out of the yard. She doesn't really care for the cows that we walk by, but again it is just a matter of getting her use to them. We both have jobs, mine may not be permanent for the moment, and Cam is working in Kelowna still. Fortunately our landlord works with Cam so he can carpool with him and not use our car to get him to and from work. Which is really nice because that leaves me with the car, and we aren't putting on extra kilometers or paying for our own gas to get him to and from work. So life is pretty much fantastic at the moment. I really have no complaints :o)
Cam just had his birthday the other weekend so we were in Kelowna to celebrate that with some friends. Danielle was still here to celebrate it with us. It was fun to go out for the night for supper as well as bowling. We haven't been ten pin bowling for sooo long. It was a fun night.

I'm BACK!
I am a horrible blogger. I am not too sure who actually reads my blog and keeps up with it, but I am going to try to get back into updating my blog. Life for me has been nothing short of busy for the last few months. It feels so good to be back in Canada and back home. The trip was amazing. There were many things that we got to see, and do, and experience. As I had mentioned our trip started off as a little BC trip. We got to see a lot of people before we left for our adventure. In Kelowna we got to see Cam's grandma, who is doing great. She has a busier schedule of things to do than me. We stayed with Nicole and Kihenjo for the night in Kelowna at their new house. It is a great place they have, and it is in a good area. Our visit in Kelowna was short, but we knew that we would see everyone soon enough because when we returned from our trip we would be moving there.
Vancouver was another one of our stops, again a great visit with friends in Vancouver. Mike and Ellen's little guy Kegan is getting so big, and was almost walking when we were there. So our trip started off to a great start. I guess I can't really go into all the details in one posting. My friend Michelle gave me a journal for Christmas which I used to keep a daily blog of what we did in a day on our trip. So by using my blog to post stories and pictures is a way to fill everyone in on our trip and for me to document what we did.
We were only back for a week and Cam managed to find a job quickly. So we have been in Kelowna now for two weeks. Again staying with Nicole and Kihenjo. We have found a place to rent for the end of the month, so hopefully I can get back to work again soon. Danielle is coming down for a visit, I am so excited to see her. I haven't seen her since Christmas. When we lived in the same city I saw her a lot, now that I am so far away I won't see her as much... I think I might go through withdrawls. I just need to figure a way to get her to move closer. I just want to move into our place so I can get my pug back with me. I miss her so much. But it would be more stressful for her to be here in Kelowna and then having to uproot her again to the new place. It will be an easier adjustment once all of our stuff is in the new place, then she will know that that is going to be home. I am not too sure what happened to her while we were away but when we got home she was a completely different dog. From the day I got her, she was very different than most puppies. She didn't care for other dogs, she never really like to play with other dogs. She would play run and chase but that was about it. She wouldn't wrestle with other dogs, let alone allow them to lay a paw on her. She was living in her own little bubble, and no matter what we tried to do there was no bursting it. When we arrived home we got to witness first hand her and her cousin Riley actually playing. Full out wrestling, biting at each other playing. There was almost a tear in my eye with happiness that my dog was actually kinda normal now. She even allows Riley to lay with her and cuddle up close to her.

We get to go home for Easter so we will get to see Zoe at Easter, then we will be back again in a week to move our stuff to our new place in Coldstream. Then we can start to get things settled and I can start finding a job. We are getting a really good deal on the place that we are renting so we will be able to save up and buy a house later this year, or next year. I am just really looking forward to things getting back to normal for us.

Holy Crap, Holy Crap
Holy Crap by this time next week I will be in Singapore. It is such a surreal feeling. I have never really travelled, other than to the Dominican Republic. So this little adventure that Cam and I are about to embark on is kinda intimidating to me. I really don't know what to expect. We both have received such great advice from friends who have travelled. You can always take from other peoples experiences, however we will mostly be learning on our own, no two trips are the same. Last night we finally started to pack. It took me three times of going through my bag and taking things out to finally get my bag so that it wasn't overflowing with clothes. I find it really hard to decide what I am going to wear in advance. We have been living in cold weather now for a few months, so the thought of digging through my summer clothes and deciding what to bring and what not to bring is quite a challenge for me. I looked at Cam's backpack and then my backpack, and he has so much more space than me....hm...my only excuse is that I am a girl and I like to have options for things to wear. Either way I think I have it figured out. So for the most part we are all packed.
Come Friday morning our journey begins. We will be travelling through BC visiting friends and family before our flight leaves on Monday. First stop is Kelowna, then we are off to Vancouver. I am so excited to see my very good friend Nicole in Kelowna! I haven't seen her since the wedding. As well as our friends in Vancouver. We haven't seen any of them since the wedding as well. So we start our journey off with a bang. Another good friend of mine gave me a journal book for Christmas so that I can write down what we do and places we go so I can keep up with my blog while I am away. I probably won't be posting anything, but when I get back I will have a lot of stories and pictures. So to everyone that takes time out of their day to read my random postings, check back here in March after I get back. Take care and we will talk to you all soon!!

Happy 2008
Well I don't think that the move could have gone any better given the conditions. We had Charlie full right up, Cam's dads truck fully loaded up, and a u-haul trailer fully loaded. So we had quite the convoy going for us. The drive started really early for us. We got out of Edmonton about 4:30-4:45 am.....yes AM! The roads through Alberta were great. They were bare although windy. So for Cam and his dad having to drive the truck and trailer was a little tougher due to the winds. The roads in BC were usual BC winter driving. Some spots just had wisps of snow while others had a lot more snow coverage. We chose to take the BC Ferry from Crawford Bay to Balfour. We really couldn't have planned it any better. We basically drove right on to the ferry. Felt bad for Zoe, I am sure she had to go to the bathroom again, but she had to wait till we got to the other side before we could let her out. She was a true trooper through the drive. I made sure that she had a spot in the car that she could sleep and be comfortable. She has always been a great traveller. We arrived to Nelson just in time for supper. We didn't really unload anything from the move. We were all pretty bagged from the long drive.
Christmas came and Christmas went. It is always nice to have family around and visit with friends. I really love Christmas and enjoy the holidays. This year felt a little different due to the fact that there was no rush to get things organized to make a long trek back home or back to work. We are here till the middle of January before we fly out to Australia. So Cam and I are busy trying to get all the little things together before we go and have things somewhat organized for when we get back. For example: Charlie he needs to be inspected and insured in BC. We were going to wait till we got back to do it, but I realized that his registration in Alberta expires on February 28th. We get back on February 25th. Not really leaving us a whole lot of time to get things together for him before he turns into a pumpkin and we can't legally drive him. So it is the little things like that that need to be done and organized before we go. I think I might have a little bit of obsessive compulsive disorder going on.
Either way the trip is coming up so quickly. I am so excited, not ready, but very excited to go. I'm not sure how updated I am going to be able make my blog. So if I don't I will get back at it once I return from my trip.

Happy Birthday ZOE!!!!!!!!!!
Today four years ago my little pug was born. Soon after she came into my life (february 14th, 2004). On her second birthday I cried, I realized that she is only going to get older and then leave me. For some, you might think that is a silly way of thinking or that she is just a dog. However, if you are a dog owner you understand where I am coming from. It is amazing how much joy, laughter, and love these little creatures bring you day to day.
So this morning when I woke up I scouted out my little pug, and sure enough she was in her bed (she has a queen size bed in her own room, for now) so I picked her up and gave her lots of kisses and cuddles and gave her a treat, or two. I feel bad that she has to stay at home all by herself on her birthday, but I will be home soon enough and I will probably give her more love and cuddles and treats.
Here's to Zoe! Momma loves you, and I guess so does that guy (Cam)that lives with us.

Breanne 'procrastinator' McLean
I'm not sure why this is, but I like to procrastinate things till the very last mintue before it has to be done. I am not sure if it is because I have no conception of time, or if it is just because I am lazy. There are only 24 more days till we are on the road moving our stuff back to Nelson and I haven't packed a single thing. The same thing happened to me when we lived in Cranbrook. Cam came home from firefighting the week before the movers were coming to help me with some last minute packing, and to his surprise I hadn't packed a single thing. So, we managed to get all of our belongings packed in two nights, and have everything ready to go for the movers. We don't own a lot of stuff so it really doesn't take that long. I don't like living in a house that is empty. It just feels cold and bare so I will hold off packing for as long as I can. However, with this move I want to purge through my belongings and get rid of many of the things I have that I don't need anymore.
Even with with wedding I found myself procrastinating things till the last minute. If it weren't for my sister I don't think I would have been able to pull it off. I think maybe I think of myself as super woman and I can whip off anything and do anything is a short amount of time. I guess I just don't think about how long certain things will take me to accomplish. I suppose the worst thing about being a procrastinator is that I cause myself a lot more stress than is needed for any situation. Even with that baby blanket that I did for my friends I think I finished it about two weeks before we were leaving to visit them. The end product was beautiful, but I caused myself a lot of stress trying to finish it in time to give it to them. Oh the life I lead for myself.
So I guess that brings me to my epiphany on this topic..... I need to be more assertive and more of a go getter and just do the things I need to do as they arise. I am a planner by nature so it just doesn't make any sense that I procrastinate things. We will see how this goes. I think that the move will all work out just fine even if I wait till the last week to pack, life always has a way of working itself out.

Banff for the weekend!!!
Any chance I get to have a three-day weekend I will take. Fortunately Cam was able to take the Friday off so that we could both have a three-day weekend together. Friends of ours invited us to join them in Banff for the weekend. We would rent a chalet/condo for the weekend and live it up in Banff. The nice thing is that the suite is complete with a kitchen with everything from utensils to a full sized fridge and stove.
So this morning we woke up around 8:30 and got ourselves out of bed, showered, and ready to go. We were busy packing and making sure that we didn’t forget anything. My heart went out to Zoe because we have arranged for Danielle and Ryan to look after her for the weekend. So she got to watch us pack and leave her behind. Then we were off.
I don’t think I really appreciated the mountains or just the general beauty of our provinces joining together till I moved to Edmonton and my new skyline and view were tall buildings. The Rockie Mountains are something to be admired. I love them this time of year because they are capped with snow, yet the roads are still relatively dry. Living in BC, I’ve now realized, I took the beauty and the enjoyment of it all for granted. There are so many activities that you can do. Hikes, bike rides, snowshoeing, cross country skiing. Now you can do all of that stuff in Edmonton too, but the scenic views are lacking. I guess if you aren’t into that kind of stuff then Edmonton is great. There is a lot to do here, but most of those activities occur indoors.
We made good time and arrived in time to meet up with your friends and go in to town to have a quick bite to eat before our supper reservations at the Fairmont Castle in the Mountains here. It was an amazing meal and amazing service.
Saturday our day included a great breakfast and then we were off on a road trip to the Athabasca Ice Fields. It was amazing up there and just looking at how far that glacier has traveld and the debris it has left behind. It was very cold and windy there, thank goodness for car starters to get the car warmed up before you get in :o) We went out for a really nice supper to Saltlik Steak House. I belive it was called. It was good. I don't know what it is about the service in Banff, but it is a wonderful experience. It is almost like the people are happy to be there working and serving you. It is a nice change from some of the service you recieve in the city. Once we were done with supper we wondered over to Wild Bills bar. It is very rustic, but enjoyable. After a few drinks we headed back to the room to drink some more and have a fire.
Sunday we just got up and left early. We were going to go into town and shop around, but we decieded that we just wanted to get home at a reasonable time and get ready for work on Monday. Besides the pug probalby missed us and wanted to go home. All in all it was a great weekend with great friends! I would love to go back to Banff, but I think I want to see it in the summer months. Or even late spring. I don't mind the snow, but it is really quite cold there with the wind. It chills you to the bone. I am glad to be home cuddling with the pug and my husband on the couch watching the Grey Cup. What else would I be doing on a Sunday afternoon?

De-junking and De-cluttering
39 Days and counting till we move back to BC! The next 6 weeks are going to go by so quickly I won't even know what hit me. Between plans that have already been made, to Christmas parties, to packing Cam and myself are going to be quite frantic getting everything organized and ready to move. This weekend we decided to get a start on it. So we went down into the basement to take a little inventory of stuff that we have, and get rid of the stuff that we don't need anymore. There was a huge pile by the end of our tirade, stuff to get thrown out, stuff to go to Goodwill, and boxes we need to keep to pack the stuff we have upstairs. Like my mom says though, no matter how organized you are, you are still going to be busy and frantic getting everything packed up. I want to disagree with her because I think that Cam and I did a pretty good job this weekend getting everything together and separating things that need to go to the dump, or go to Goodwill. We have all the boxes organized in a corner of our basement that are waiting to be filled and ready to go. We have always had the room to store boxes so we have managed to keep the majority of boxes from stuff that we have bought, for example: my kitchen aid mixer box, or our x-box box, or the box from our computer. So that will make packing that majority of the belonging that we are still using easy. Our philosophy when cleaning up is; if we haven't used it in the last year that we have lived here we obviously don't need it at all. I find it hard to let go of some things, only because some things hold some sentimental value to me, but I have to be realistic when it comes down to it. Even when I am packing the stuff that we still have out I will be eliminating a lot of it. Because for the past year and a half it has just sat there and not been used, so I don't see me requiring it down the road. I have gotten along just fine for the last year without it. If that make sense?
We really don't own a lot of stuff, so moving for us will be rather straight forward. I am just excited to what the new year holds for Cam and me. It will be interesting to see where we are this time next year. I am hoping in our own house.

First Snow of the Year

Sunday morning I woke up rather early due to the time change. So I was out of bed making my coffee at about 8:00 am.....on a Sunday I know pathetic. Meanwhile the pug and Cam slept upstairs. I don't have many complaints with it though. Only because if Cam and the dog are both upstairs sleeping that gives me my time to do what I need to get done and things I want to do. Usually when they are up I have to entertain both of them. Whether it be taking the dog out, giving her a treat, feeding her, or playing with her.... to giving Cam things to do, or entertain him in one way shape or form. Usually there is football on so I can put that on and he is happier than a pig in mud. So, I really do enjoy the few hours of the weekend mornings that I get time to myself. This Sunday morning I woke up to snow. There was a good blanket of snow on the ground! Usually this would upset me and make me want to curl back up into bed and hide from the fact that winter is approaching us. Not today, I embraced the fact that there was this white snow on the ground and the sun was shinning brightly through the windows. It made me really happy. All day Sunday I was thinking about how great the holiday season is and how much I enjoy going home to the Kootenays. Generally I don't like snow because I don't like winter driving. It scares the crap out of me. But today I didn't really have to go anywhere or do anything.
Then Cam got up and decided that we had to be productive humans today and actually do something other than sitting on the couch. We only had till 2:00pm because that is when kick-off was for the Indy/Dallas game. So we went and did our running around the city, we went to Rona (to fix the door I kicked in, I guess I did more damage than I had thought), Save-On-Food, and London Drugs (so I can finally finish the thank you cards I have been procrastinating, although I did just get the professional pictures). It felt a lot like Christmas out there while we were out. The decorations are coming out, the trees are put up in the stores to be sold.... all this kind of stuff excites me more than Cam would like. He isn't a big fan of Christmas, but I am working on that. AHHHH I love the holiday season. All the baking, and the holiday cheer.
The pug loves the snow. She loves to go out and eat it, and run around in it. It wasn't quite deep enough for her to really enjoy it, but I am sure more is coming soon. So pull out your mitts, scarfs, and toques people the snow is a comin'!

Happy it is Monday...Odd...
Yep I am sure glad that it is Monday. Only for the simple fact that Cam gets home today. This week of him being gone hasn't been the best week. I have realized that I am the type of person who likes to look after others not myself. I find that I have a very nurturing personality and I enjoy looking after others. Making sure that their needs and wants are satisfied before my own. So, when I have no one to look after I guess I feel lost in a way. With Cam being gone for the past week I have had no one to look after or feed. That is the major issue I have, when it is just me I don't feel like cooking or preparing much in the way of nutritious foods for myself. I will eat out too much or I will have a bagel for supper, or a sandwich, or soup. Something quick and easy. It definitely takes a toll on me and my body. The lack of vegetables and fruit. Today I woke up with a really bad stomach ache. So I am thinking because of my lack of nutrition that my body is accustom to my immune system is a little weak and I am getting sick :o(
Tonight I am going to go home, go grocery shopping and get some vegetables, fruits, and a whole lot of other healthy foods. Because Cam is home tonight I am sure that things will get back to normal and I will start looking after him and myself!
Although I did have a really good weekend. Saturday was a much needed day indeed for myself, as well as my girls here. I spent the day at the mall with my sister Danielle and my very good friend Michelle. After we finished our pedicures I went home and picked up my dog and headed over to Michelle's house for the night. She has two dogs and all three dogs got along really well. Us girls went out for a very nice supper at Opium and then headed back to Michelle's for more drinks and we played with Michelle's new hot rollers. We were up late gabbing, laughing and sharing past stories with each other. We have quite the history us three girlies. Living in the city I tend to feel lonley at times and miss my friends from home. Having Michelle and my sister in the same city as me is so wonderful becuase I know I always have them. I have new friends that are from here, but friends that I grew up with and know me and who I am is the most wonderful thing to have. We don't hang out nearly as much as I think we would all like to, but we all have rather busy lives at the moment. Michelle is in the nursing program at UofA, and my sister..... well she works a lot. It was just really nice to have a weekend of girly things and girly time.
Kicking Down the House
Yesterday wasn't the best day for me in anyway. Cam dropped me off at work in the morning, and we said our goodbyes. I won't see him now for a week. He got sent to Prince George for work :o( So I carried on my day at work how I usually would. When I got home from work Zoe was happy to see me as usual, and so I leashed her up and got her ready to go outside so that she could do her business. As I was walking out the door I for whatever reason locked the handle on the door and closed it..... instantly as soon as the door slammed shut I realized what I had done..... oh crap, I just locked the dog and myself out of the house..... Keys are hanging on the key hook, purse with wallet and cell is sitting on it's regular perch..... crap crap crap.... what am I going to do the only other person with a key to get in is Cam and he is on his way to Prince George. Otherwise I would have just gone for a walk around the neighbourhood till Cam got home from work at his regular time. I didn't have a phone to call anyone with, or find numbers to people that could rescue me (other than my sister and Ryan their numbers are the only ones I remember). I was screwed. I thought for a second to walk to my sisters house but then that would mean that I would have to walk through a sketchy part of town..... So that was out. I am not very close with any of my neighbours to use their phones to call a lock smith, provided one would still be open. I thought to beg the bus driver to let me ride the bus back down to work, but I had the dog with me.
The only choice I had was to kick my own door in. Three kicks and WABAM!! I'm in. Minimal damage was done to the door, I am still able to close and lock the door. I had to screw in the handle back into the side of the door a little bit, but all is well and I learned my lesson. I guess worst case scenario I might have to replace the door. We will see what Cam has to say when he gets home.

The Forever Debatalbe Topic
I don't know why but I think for as long as humans exist on this planet there will always be the debate as to why girls are different from boys. The other night Cam and myself were out walking Zoe around the block so that she would do her business before bed. We have been rather busy the last week and a half and she has been couped up in the house with no one really around for her. So, we decided on taking her for at least a little walk. Anyways, as we were walking we got to discussing about me :o) hahaha.... I was saying about how I am unable to shut my brain off. I am constantly thinking about my day, things I need to do, things I've done.... everything. I can't just not think. Cam was saying how he can sit down and turn his mind off no problem and not think about his day or things that has to be done. Not think about anything? I asked. I find this hard to believe because the human mind has to be thinking about something at any given point. He assures me that he is pretty mindless when he is sitting down and watching tv, or in bed going to sleep. He isn't thinking about his day, he isn't thinking about things he needs to do. I guess that is where I come in, I have to remind his ass of things he has to do. So I guess what I am wondering is.... can all men just shut their brains off? Can other woman shut their brains off and think of sweet nothings? Am I the crazy one? hahaha don't answer.....
I find that because I am unable to really 'turn' my brain off I'm constantly thinking and it affects me more than I realize. The constant racing thoughts are a symptom of my panic disorder. Just if I am in one of my attacks the thoughts are fed through a lot quicker pace. I believe that this blog site for me has been a really good vice for me to be able to voice my opinions and share my thoughts and just put them out there. Who's reading my blog that would care? Well I am sure there are friends and family members that read it every once in a while that care for me and care about what I have to say..... oh dear..... I am letting my mind wonder. ON that note I am going to end this here.
But if anyone out there in blog world has any input to tricks or ideas on how to shut their brains off I am all ears....boys and girls..... I am interested to test my theory if woman can possess the power to shut off their brains and if there are any boys out there that can't shut off their brains, or if I am just making assumptions based off of Cam and me?
